The Portland Trail Blazers ended their season after loosing game 6 in Houston Thursday night. Although it would have been great to see a game seven, I am looking forward to the summertime in Portland. Anyone that has spent a summer there knows what I am talking about. While having post-game drinks with fellow photographers Jamie Francis, Eric Kayne and designer Tanyia Johnson I added up the number of basketball games I photographed this season. 52 Blazer games, 6 NCAA tournament games, 2 OSU games and 2 Portland State games for a total of 62 basketball games since Halloween. Already looking forward to next season …
The Blazers pulled off a win tonight at the Rose Garden in Portland, but the NBA lost one of it’s most respectable players. Houston’s Dikembe Mutombo injured his knee and it will likely end his 18-year NBA career. His injury came midway through his 1,297th game.
The Portland Trail Blazers did not match up well against the Houston Rockets at the Rose Garden as the two teams met in the first round of the playoffs. Game 2 will be in Portland, Oregon on Tuesday night.
About 250 Portland Trail Blazer fans camped outside in the cold at the Rose Garden to wait in line to buy tickets for the playoffs. The first person in line showed up at noon and will have to wait a full 24-hours in line. Thanks to Tom Boyd for the heads up on this. I was supposed to go in the morning, but Boyd heard on the radio that people were already out there after tonight’s game. I decided it would make much better pictures in the middle of the night than in the daytime.
