3 Course Challenge

As the x-country runners headed down Tank Hill Road, they could see something drastic had changed. A water truck had dropped more than 6,000 gallons of water across the trail. There was only one way through for the 2,340 finishers from 95 high schools.

Although mostly unsuccessful, the runners used every possible technique as they attempted to get through the puddle without falling. A few runners were looking for style points as they intentionally dove into the muddy water.

About 2,200 high school runners from 96 schools around the West participated in the Three-Course Challenge over the weekend at the Rilea Armed forces Training Center just North of Seaside, OR.

Students are randomly assigned to one of the three courses — easy, moderate and difficult.
